What does a technical writer do?
While colleges and universities abroad in several places offer multi-year studies in what is often called "technical communication", there is no equivalent offer in Norway. Most of those who work with technical documentation are thus "unskilled" and often have completely different vocational backgrounds.
Many who work with technical documentation in Norwegian companies do an excellent job. However, many do not have writing as their main occupation. They are more or less voluntarily charged with preparing complicated instructions for use. Unfortunately, it is often the case that the instructions for use are the last thing that is created in full haste before the product is released, and just as often, sadly, it is those "it is the least suitable for" who have to do the work.
skriftlig.info wants to be a professional offer for all technical communicators regardless of experience and professional skill. If you are new to the tasks, you can find tips on improving your documents and which tools are nice. You who have worked with documentation for a long time can hopefully find new inspiration.
